      At the 2nd ACS Chemistry Festival in Beijing, China, when I was showing chemical experiments with other volunteers to the local kids surrounding us, their lovely curious look reminded me of my childhood. My parents are both the first generation struggling out of rural areas to cities for a better future, and they could not have had the chance to bring me to these events when I was like these kids. However, through the years they have fought their ways to a decent life and dedicated most of their time to support me in every aspect. I am proud and grateful that I inherited their unyielding persistence and excelled my peers even from families with much higher academic backgrounds throughout every schools I attended. During high school, I gradually found my talents of keen observation and serendipity in chemistry, which combined like an inner propulsion, drove me to step further to self-studying college chemistry courses and won first prize in the Chinese Chemistry Olympiad. This earned me pre-admission to Fudan University with an honored scholarship for my full marks in the Fudan Entrance Exam, but in fact I was happier for being able to start actual researches with the pioneering chemists here on the cutting-edge topics I had been curious about. At Fudan University, I joined Prof. XXX's Group in Dept. of Chemistry, and started research on covalent organic frameworks (COFs), a novel class of porous crystalline materials with extraordinary surface area and adsorption properties, built by linking geometrically designed organic building blocks with covalent bonds. I have always been thrilled about the charming nature of chemistry to build substances at the finest, atomic scale, and I am fond of COFs because these materials are the best examples. They are distinguished for well-defined crystalline structures, and I could modify any atoms inside by simple organic synthetic methods, which neither inorganic nor polymer materials could achieve both. One of the major projects I conducted in Prof. XXX's Group was XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX, collaborated with a Ph.D. student. By introducing cationic bipyridinium modules into COFs, we sought to achieve extraordinary adsorption capabilities of anionic dye molecules. Through digesting literatures and vast amount of trails, I learned and achieved soon from synthesis and introduction of bipyridinium into building blocks, to condition screening of COF synthesis and
